Congratulations to the Brainerd Competitive Speech Team for their success at the Park Rapids tournament on Tuesday night! Shout out to Emily Severson, Anna Streed, and Sydnee Johnson on their first place finishes; Allison Rudnick, Maddie Schuld, Hayden Kvalevog, Natalie Topete, Shayla Makowski-Budrow, and Larissa Kleinschmidt on their second place finishes; and Solveig Olson, Julia Chock, Isabel Haglin, and Jorden Holmes on their third place finishes. Great job, Speech team!


Students attending the Superintendent Interviews today should be dismissed at 11:40 am.

Please meet Ms. Kennedy by the South bus doors with your notebook and pen.


Club and organization pictures will be taken for the yearbook this Friday, February 19. We will be making intercom announcements throughout the morning to get kids to the media center. My hope is that we run ahead of schedule, so times may vary a bit. If you are the adviser of one of these clubs, please encourage your members to be on time, or they may not be photographed.

Warrior Day of Service sign ups are happening now! You have until March 25 to sign up for this great community service opportunity for students in grades 6-12 on the early release day on April 6. The sign up form can be found on your school's website and Facebook page.

Magician & Illusionist  - Grades 5 and up

Enhance your skills and knowledge, develop dexterity, presentation skills and greater confidence in your magic abilities. Class fee includes a deck of cards and two magic tricks to take home. Class is held at Washington Educational Services Building, on Tuesday, March 8, 9-11 am, Cost $10.


Babysitter’s Prep, Safety Skills and First Aid Basics - Entering Grade 5 & Up

Learn how to prevent injuries, healthy habits, leadership, basic care, safety, first aid, youth development and fun projects you can do that will be age-appropriate for your clients. You will make your own first aid kit to take on your babysitting jobs. Bring a lunch, snack and beverage each day. Limited space so sign up early!  Class is held at Washington Educational Services Building, room #200 on Mar 8 & 9, Tues & Wed, 8 am - 2 pm, Cost is $45.

Dodgeball Grades 5-8

Teams will be set, instruction and rules will be reviewed and PLAY begins. Teams will play each other in a round robin format throughout the afternoon as time allows. Good sportsmanship will be enforced. All Dodgeball participants will receive a t-shirt. Tennis shoes a must!  No supervision is available after 5 pm. Meets at FMS Gym, 8 sessions, March 14-24/Monday thru Thursday, dismissal to 5 pm. Cost is $40.


Tennis - Girls & Boys Grade 5

Learn basic skills such as racket handling, racket/ball control, stroke development, games and FUN! Rackets and tennis balls will be provided. Held at FMS gymnasium, 9 sessions, Mar 14-24, 3-4:30 pm. Class will meet Monday through Friday the first week and Monday through Thursday the secondweek. Cost is $35.


Acting up! Grades 5-8

Program includes numerous theatre and improvisation games, in depth study of an actual script, scenes from that script, monologues as well as individual writing which will be used in a final presentation for family and friends at 4 pm on April 14 in the Forestview Cafetorium. Meets Mar 22-April 14, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8 sessions, dismissal to 4:30 pm, Cost is $65
