GIVING TREE: Look for the Giving Tree near the main office. The Builders Club is sponsoring our local woman's shelter with gifts this Christmas. You can help by purchasing a child or mom gift between $5 and $15. All directions are found near the tree. The drive ends December 16th. Thanks in advance from the Builders Club.


HEARTLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA: Kick off your holiday season with The Heartland Symphony Orchestra! They are playing a holiday concert this weekend!  Bring your family Saturday at 7:30pm to Little Falls or Sunday at 2:30pm to Tornstrom Auditorium!  Remember, 5th graders and their families get in for free!  Come enjoy live music played by your colleagues, Kaarin Hanske, Jessica Moats, and Leslie Zander.


HIGH ALTITUDE BALLOON CLASS: starts up January 7th. If you are interested in signing up, see Mr. Olson or Mr. Reed for more information. Sign up is through Community Education. Sign up today!


SNOWMOBILE SAFETY CLASS: will be held Tues. 12/3/13,  Thurs. 12/5/13 and Tues. 12/10/13, Thurs. 12/12/13 at Merrifield Marathons Club House South of Merrifield on CO. RD 3. Classes are from 7:00PM TO 9:00PM each night. The driving test is on Sat. 12/14/13 at 10:00AM (depending on snow). This class is for students ages 12 to 16. Please contact Jerry Schueller at 218-963-6010 to register.


COMMUNITY ED:

STRENGTH CONDITIONING: Any 5-8 grade boy or girl interested in the after school strength program is reminded to register online on the district website under Athletics, FMS Activities and Athletics.. We will start next Monday and follow a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule for the next 12 weeks. If you have any questions see Mr. Sanford in team 7B.


FMS SPORTS:

DEBATE: Congratulations Brainerd Debate Team for their performances at the Robbinsdale Cooper tournament and the RDL Championship. Special recognition in Lincoln/Douglas debate goes to Miriam Pritschet, who was a semifinalist in varsity, Leah Rathe, who finished 2nd in JV , and Camryn Schmidt who was a quarterfinalist in novice.

In public forum debate, Rachel dallman and Amanda Bently took 3rd in varsity.  In novice, Luke Norquist and Lydia Halbach earned 1st place with a 4-0 record, Sara Kleist and Dani Dotseth also went 4-0 and took 2nd, Sam Dirks and Lizze Ortmeier took 3rd and Ronan Pritschet and Isaac Eslinger took 4th. Clean sweep.  Great job and great season to the Forestview students whose season is now over.


UPCOMING SPORTS: Students and staff, we have a big week for Warrior Athletics:

  • 7th and 8th grade girls basketball will play Grand Rapids at home, Tuesday December 3rd at 4:30.

  • 7th and 8th grade boys basketball will play Grand Rapids at home, Thursday December 5th at 4:30.

  • Jr. High Wrestling will host Grand Rapids, Little Falls, and Staples on Thursday December 5th at 4:30.

Come cheer on your FMS teams.  Concessions will be open.


CONGRATULATIONS: to Katie Streiff who was named Most Valuable Player of the Girls Varsity Swim Team this fall.
