Happy May Day!!

Time For Spring Cleaning!

Bring your old computers, TVs – anything with a cord – to Carlson Hardware in Nisswa on Saturday, May 6 to be recycled. Electronics will be $.50/lb and TVs $10. We can even recycle old Christmas lights and paint. Proceeds will benefit the Forestview Future Problem Solvers Team as they raise funds to compete at an international competition in June.

There are 3 new handouts in the main office: You can pick up flyers on Ultimate Martial Arts summer classes, and a Summer Reading skills online program offered through the University of Minnesota. Also, the annual Race for Grace 5K registration forms are also in the office. This is a really fun 5K that takes place around Forestview on Sunday, May 28.


COMMUNITY ED:


The FMS After School Cooking Club will NOT meet this week on Tuesday, May 2nd OR Thursday, May 4th.


FMS SPORTS:


Are you interested in joining or learning more about the middle school mountain bike team? Mountain Biking is a fall sport with races in September and October of next school year. It is open to boys and girls who are currently in grades 6-12. If you would like to learn more about joining the mountain bike team, there will be informational meetings this Wednesday. You can either come before school at 8:00 AM or during 7th or 8th grade power hours. The meetings will take place in Room 1313 of the music area next to the band room. The coach and several team members will be on hand to go over information and to answer questions.

8th Grade Girls Basketball: There will be a meeting for all current 8th grade girls basketball players who plan to play basketball next year on Wednesday, May 3rd, at 7:45 am in Room 2818 in team 8C (Mr. Gross' english classroom). Coach Nelson will be meeting with you about basketball next year and also summer basketball opportunities. If you plan to play basketball next year, please make every effort to attend.

Note from the library: Next Monday, May 1, all students will be allowed to check out ONE book at a time, rather than two. This helps us get books back into the library before summer break. We will also stop book holds on Monday. All books will be due into the library on Monday, May 22.

All Brainerd students are invited to register for the 2017 Run For the Lakes to be held this Friday, Ap. 28th.  Student registration is only $15 and includes a t-shirt and post race goodies. Run, jog, or walk the 3.1 mile event. Bring your friends!  Registration information flyers are in the main office and the Community Education hallway.

There will be an informational meeting at South Campus in the Cafeteria on Sunday, April 23 at 1:00pm for girls that would like to be in the Miss Brainerd/Baxter Pageant that will take place at Tornstrom Auditorium June 24th. This is a Scholarship Pageant. The winners will receive $750.00. We will crown two title holders in each of the three divisions...Jr Teen, Teen. and Miss. Flyers are available in the main office.


Jackie Thurlow, Miss Baxter, will be stationed by the media center Friday morning from 7:45-8:15am. Stop by to hear more!


If you can't attend the meeting, but would like more information, please contact Director Vicki Randall 218-851-4808.  4.21

Two Forestview Middle School Band students were recently selected as members of the Minnesota Band Director’s Association State Honor Band. The two students selected were Jenna Host; 8th grade french horn, and Avery Anakkala; 7th Grade Clarinet.


The State Honor Band will meet April 22nd for an all day rehearsal followed by a concert on Sunday, April 23rd at 2 PM at Chanhassen High School.


There were 370 students from 81 schools who submitted the rigorous audition of which only 75 students were selected for the State Honor Band.
